Camelina oil is shown to act as a good skin moisturizer. Its texture and mild scent also make a nice massage oil. The vitamin E and omega oils help to improve skin tone and prevent free radical damage. A hot oil scalp massage is another useful treatment.

Nicknamed the “gold of pleasure,” Camelina Oil is the oil you’d want with you if you were stuck on a desert island: it’s edible and delivers many nutritional benefits, it has an impressive ability to hydrate skin, scalp, and hair and ward off inflammation and is significantly more environmentally friendly than its more traditional alternatives.

Camelina Oil is high in omega-3 fatty acids (up to 45%!), including alpha-linolenic acid, which makes it similar to flaxseed oil. It’s actually very similar to flax in both appearance and properties, but it has a more stable shelf life, which means it allows your product to stay fresh and effective longer.

Of course, Omega-3s are extremely beneficial for skin and hair. They help to regulate oil production, locking in must-have moisture. By sealing it in skin and hair, omega-3’s are key to keeping the scalp and hair conditioned, relieving irritated or scaly scalps.

Camelina Oil also has a very high content of tocopherols (also 45%), a strong antioxidant that’s touted for its anti-inflammatory qualities (read: it helps keep you looking younger longer by fighting off the environmental factors that bring on aging).

Camelina Oil is light in nature, allowing it to absorb easily and quickly, suiting even fine or naturally oily hair.

Because Camelina Oil contains one of the highest levels of these essential fatty acids among all vegetable oils, it has an impressive ability to restore damaged hair cuticles, help brittle hair regain its elasticity, and nourish dry scalps.

Camelina oil creates a healthy barrier for the skin, scalp, and hair, reducing water loss and warding and dryness.

Native to Europe and Central Asia, Camelina is a small annual shrub with small pale yellow or greenish yellow flowers. Cold-pressed Camelina Oil is extracted from the seeds manually to maintain its high nutrient content.

It is often referred to as false flax because it is often found growing in flax fields. Traditionally used for oil in lamps and as feed for livestock, it’s now being studied as a bio fuel alternative to corn. Studies have shown that Camelina-based jet fuel reduces net carbon emissions by about 80%.

Research has also shown that vitamin E oil can improve dry hair and/or dry scalp by infusing both with moisture and also locking it in, ensuring that the softness and hydration are long-lasting.
