Our organically crafted Bitter Orange Essential Oil is cold pressed from the beautiful rinds of Citrus aurantium var. amara, grown in beautiful, sun-kissed orchards in India. Our Bitter Orange Oil has a citrus, fresh orange aroma with soft green and mild bitter dry notes and woody undertones; it adds an interesting note to natural perfumery formulations.

Also known as Seville Orange and Bigarade, Citrus aurantium var. amara is a hybrid of Citrus maxima (Pomelo) and Citrus reticulata (Mandarin), indigenous to India but now widely cultivated in Spain, Sicily, Morocco, the southern US States and the Caribbean - diverse regions with similar climatic conditions.

Although not quite as popular in aromatherapy as the Sweet Orange Essential Oil, nonetheless Bitter Orange Essential Oil offers a wide range of health benefits to both qualified aromatherapists and home enthusiasts. It has potent anti-inflammatory, antiseptic, antidepressant, antimicrobial and antioxidant properties. The cleansing, stimulating and toning action of Bitter Orange Oil makes it ideal to add to other lymphatic stimulants for treating oedema, cellulite or as part of a detoxification program. It also includes flavonoids, powerful antioxidants that protect against free radical damage and promote skin healing ability for a reduced appearance of wrinkles and signs of aging.

In aromatherapy, Orange Bitter Essential Oil has strengthening, stimulating and enlivening properties. It is a very uplifting essential oil that may help with combating situational depression and anxiety. During cold and flu season, Orange Essential Oil is also great for adding to diffuser blends that can cleanse the air of unwanted germs and microbial activity.
