Tigernut Oil
INTRODUCTION
Our organically crafted Tigernut Oil is cold pressed from the edible tubers of Cyperus esculentus, also called Chufa Sedge, Nut Grass, Yellow Nutsedge and Tiger Nutsedge. The high content of Vitamin E (particularly Gamma-Tocopherol) makes it more resistant to chemical decomposition at high temperatures.
Tigernut (Cyperus esculentus), is not actually a nut, but a small tuber that has been used for centuries in many African civilizations including the ancient Egyptians for its magnificent therapeutic and regenerative properties. Having a fundamental role in a balanced and healthy diet in many African civilizations, these small round tubers are eaten raw or cooked, or made into a traditional chufa drink called Orxata.
REPORTED USES & BENEFITS
Rich in Oleic Acid (omega-9 fatty acid) and Linoleic Acid (omega-6 fatty acid), Tigernut Oil is an ideal addition to a myriad of products for the hair and body, as well as for facial rejuvenation creams and serums. Its anti-inflammatory properties and exceptional nourishing emollient properties make Tigernut Oil an excellent choice for sensitive or dry skin. Rich in Tocopherols (Vitamin E), Tigernut Oil is a powerful antioxidant, preventing the proliferation of free radicals in the skin tissues. It may also help treat skin conditions such as eczema and psoriasis.
Tigernut Oil is also known best for its exceptional ability to penetrate into scalp and hair keeping them hydrated, nourished, and protected; hence is ideal for inclusion in hair and scalp care formulations intended to repair and replenish moisture. Tigernut Oil is the perfect emollient for all skin types, and works well for oily skin as well because of its non-clogging moisturizing action.
