Chamomile, German Blue Essential Oil

Our organically crafted German Chamomile Essential Oil is steam distilled from the cheerful white and yellow Matricaria recutita (syn Matricaria chamomilla) flowers cultivated in the picturesque countryside of Nepal. This essential oil has a characteristic deep azure blue color, has a warm, sweet, fruity, full-bodied herbaceous aroma.

Matricaria recutita is small herbaceous annual plant growing to a height of 60-90 cm. its flowers are in demand in the pharmaceutical and cosmetic industries that led to great interest in cultivation of this plant to produce sufficient quantity of raw material for bridging the gap between demand and supply.

When Matricaria recutita flowers are distilled, one of the essential oil constituents, Matricin (a sesquiterpene), decomposes into Chamazulene with its deep vivid blue color as a result of the heat and pressure of distillation. The German 'Blue' Chamomile Essential Oil enhances a healthy inflammatory response and radiates outwards over a wide range of applications including supporting healthy joint function, promoting relaxation and deep, restful sleep.
